This game is intended to be used by EMDR therapists to help their clients process bad memories. It is not advised that clients use this game on their own as a way to process bad memories.
The game is intended to stimulate eye movements and to tax the working memory.
This game is designed for desktop or laptop computers. It will work OK on an iPad but it doesn't work so well on a smartphone. A therapist may use this in the room with a client or may ask the client to open it on their computer and share it back with the therapist on Zoom.
To start the game press the Start button
When the dot changes to a star, the user can press the 'Reaction' button or use the Return key to respond
The user will get 1 point for every reaction that is faster than 500ms and 2 points for every reaction faster than 350ms
The game will speed up and slow down depending on the user's reaction time
The user can change the speed at any time using the sliding speed scale
The 'Stop' button will stop the game at any time.
In the settings pop-up it is also possible to upload a new background image and change other parameters
You can use the SUDS slider to keep track of changes in the Subjective Units of Disturbance (SUDS) as your client processes the memory.
You may notice that if your client is processing a memory with high SUDS then there will be less working memory available to play the game so the speed of response will be slower. As their response speed increases they will score more points in the 60 second timeframe which is an indicator that the SUDS are now lower.
